I have been hiking in India for more than a decade. And have been rock climbing around Bangalore for more than 5 years.
Finding good trails has always been a bit of a challenge. I mean, so many of them are littered with plastic, and it feels like they're always packed with people.
So, I started hunting for those hidden gems – quiet spots that not many know about, free from litter and crowds. I've actually found quite a few and put together this guide to share them with you.

Where are these hikes located?
All of the hikes are within 100 km of Bangalore, within 2 hours away. Most of them are lesser known, and my go-to when I feel like disconnecting from the fast city life.
What exactly do I get in the guide?
You get access to the guide's website. It has detailed trail descriptions, high-quality photos, GPX files, and maps.
Is it safe to do these hikes on my own?
These are offbeat trails in wild, unmonitored places, so there's no one around to help if something goes wrong. They're safe to explore only if you follow basic safety protocols: go with at least one other person, tell someone where you're going and when you'll be back, carry enough water, start early so you're out before dark, and turn back if the weather or the terrain doesn't feel right.
What should I do before I visit a trail?
Read the safety information on that trail's page carefully before you go to any trail, water body or location listed on the site. It covers things like the terrain, wildlife, water and permits for that specific trail. Conditions change with the season and the weather, so check the forecast too.
Can I get into the lakes, quarries or waterfalls?
Don't enter any unmonitored water body or waterfall without a certified life jacket, even if you're a strong swimmer. Water depth, currents and temperature can change without warning, and help is usually far away. The same goes for thick undergrowth and other wild spaces: go in only with appropriate safety equipment and proper clothing.
Who is responsible for my safety on the trail?
You are. BLR Hikes provides geographic information only. We don't guide, supervise or monitor anyone on the trails in the guide, and by using the site you take full responsibility for your own safety. The only exception is hikes and events officially organised by BLR Hikes, where the organisers look after safety and provide the required equipment. Hikes that members plan among themselves are not official events. See the Terms and Conditions page for details.
Do you plan to add more trails?
Yes, I do! As I keep exploring new trails I will keep adding them in the guide. I already have 20+ areas waiting to be explored, that's in addition to what I already know of.
Do you plan to document well-known hikes?
Yes! I will freely share well-known trails too. In my opinion, having properly documented trails even for well-known hikes can prevent quite a few accidents. I have already started adding well-known hikes.
I want to hike with you. How do I join?
I host hikes both in the free & the premium communities. More often in the premium community. So consider buying the guide with the community access to hike with me.
