Part 1 of a Workshop series. How to plan an exploration of a new place.

  • How to look for new potentially lesser known hiking spots.
  • Basics of "What is a GPX file" and how can it help us explore new locations safely.
  • You will learn how to use digital tools to mark potential trails and waypoints to aid exploration in the field.
  • A mix of tools used to create a GPX file.
    • Google Maps
    • Map Maker
    • GaiaGPS
    • Google Earth Pro
    • GPX Studio
  • Importing and exporting geodata between apps. Interop between GPX and KML.
  • Joining and editing GPX files with ease.

Part 2 is a workshop in the field, where we explore one of the trails as decided in the above exploration planning. Sign up for it here separately.

Eligibility

  • You could be from any part of the world with access to a computer and internet. And you will learn how to safely start exploring wild spots on your own.
